My grandfather worked in a textile factory. He owned few things and cared for all of them. That is what he left me.

His name was Eduardo Sousa. He worked in a textile factory in the north of Portugal. He was not a wealthy man and he never pretended to be one.

He wore a beret. His shoes were always polished. His bicycle was always working, always clean, always his. He taught me, my brother and my cousins to ride it.

He did not own much. What he owned, he kept.

Elegance he decided on

Elegance is usually something inherited or something bought. His was neither. He got up every morning and chose it, in a life that gave him no particular reason to.

That is the part worth keeping. Not the beret and not the bicycle. The decision.

What he actually left me

A wooden box, made by hand. I still have it. It holds photographs and small things that matter.

It is not something you wear. It is something whose job is to keep what is important to you.

That is what LGDO makes. Objects that look after the things you carry.

Legacy Redefined

The legacy is not the man. It is the care he passed on, for things and for people.

Redefining it means applying it to a different life. He had a bicycle and a pair of shoes. You have a laptop, a phone and the four cards you actually use. The objects changed. The standard did not have to.

Every LGDO piece is made in Portugal, in São João da Madeira, by people who work leather every day.

Full-grain leather from LWG-certified tanneries. YKK hardware. Recycled microfibre lining. Small runs.

We produce here because it lets us stand next to the person making the piece and change something when it is wrong. That is the whole reason. Portugal is not a label on the label.

Built to last, so that care means something

An object replaced every year does not deserve to be looked after. One that lasts fifteen does.

Our pieces are made to be used daily, to mark with time, and to be repaired instead of replaced. The patina is not wear. It is the record of how you treated it.
